Cleaning work to the engine base

With the engine base stripped of all its' parts, it was time for a good bath. Here it is suspended over the parts washer to remove years of oil and grease.

Done and drip drying

All blasted and ready for priming. You can see some of the casting flaws in the front face. These will be filled with Icing prior to priming. As the castings get larger the flaws are more pronounced. Must be more difficult getting metal to flow everywhere in the castings with the larger parts.
